About this edition
Vol.74 was the 74th market of Hake no Oishii Asaichi, held at Koganei Shrine on October 4, 2015. Like the regular market near Musashi-Koganei Station, it gathered local shops and makers selling bread, lunch boxes, coffee, flowers, stationery and handcrafted works.
Cooperation for the day came from Koganei Shrine, Kurinoko Kodomo-kai and Kameya Honten. Questions about the event were directed to the market office rather than to the shrine.
Music event
The day featured the Hake no Mori Gakudan — Olorotorihiro, Akio Oda, Effie, Ryo Futamura, Yosuke Kinoshita and Makiko Yoshino — with a parade and a concert.

Hake no Oishii Asaichi is a small morning market that takes place along the Koganei cliff line, a stretch of green hillside locally known as "hake." What began as a modest local gathering has grown into a recurring community event, drawing regular visitors to the neighbourhood each season to browse and to meet the people behind the stalls. The market's character is rooted in its setting: a quiet, nature-rich edge of the city where the atmosphere is unhurried, walkable and closely tied to the surrounding landscape.
The mix on offer is part of what defines the market. Bread and lunch boxes, freshly brewed coffee, flowers and stationery all appear alongside the work of local makers and writers, each selling directly with genuine care. Rather than a conventional retail strip, the event reads as a series of small conversations between producers and passers-by, with handmade objects and prepared food sharing the same tables. Recent editions have expanded the programme to include workshops and live music, adding another layer to the sense of a festival day outdoors.
Each edition is staged at a different local venue, and the seventy-fourth was held at Koganei Shrine, where the market opened in the morning and ran into the afternoon. The schedule follows a familiar rhythm, with the market typically taking place on the first Sunday of the month, making it an easy fixture for regular attendees and first-time visitors alike. Organised by the Hake no Oishii Asaichi Executive Committee with support from local businesses, civic groups and the surrounding community, the market continues to build on a simple idea: good food and good craft, offered by the people who make them.
